Crus is located in the heart of Northern Piedmont called Alto Piemonte, on the hills of the town of Masserano. The estates currently cover a total area of six hectares, three of which are planted with vineyards. The Colma Santa Barbara vineyard, from which we obtain our Bramaterra cru has Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina grape varieties. This vineyard, planted in 2015 and enlarged in 2021, is located at 440 meters above sea level and occupies the entire surface of the Crus hill with a 360° exposure. This altitude is important as it affects the microclimate and the nocturnal temperature range. The soils are porphyry and of volcanic origin with a sandy loam texture. The soil is acidic which gives the wine longevity and sapidity and enhances its finesse. This hill has good drainage, and is dry and windy, forcing an extreme viticulture on rocky crags. All these characteristics form an extraordinary terroir for grapes.
Just outside the town walls near the Church of San Teonesto, are the vineyards of “la Luppa” where the vines have averages age of 40 years. In addition to old clones of Nebbiolo, Croatina and Vespolina there is Barbera and uva Rara.
